1. Overview
Alarm Buddy is an iPhone wake-alarm app developed by Hemant Kumar in India. This policy explains the information handled by version 1.4 of the app and by the Alarm Buddy support email.
Alarm Buddy does not require an account. We do not sell personal information, run third-party advertising in the app, or use your data for cross-app tracking.
2. Information stored on your device
Alarm Buddy stores information needed to run the alarm and remember your experience, including:
- the time, selected weekdays, on/off state, and system identifier for your one recurring alarm;
- your selected first-action category;
- custom first-action text, if you enter it;
- the current Buddy-flow state and locally recorded event history;
- optional answers about your morning pattern and whether you returned to bed;
- migration, reconciliation, and prompt-dismissal state.
AlarmKit, an Apple framework, manages the system alarm. Your custom first-action text is stored locally and is not sent to Mixpanel; analytics records only that the action category is “custom.” Deleting the app normally removes its locally stored data. iOS and Apple control any system-level records they retain.
3. Product analytics
Alarm Buddy uses Mixpanel to understand whether setup works, whether saved alarm state remains consistent, and how people choose to use the optional Buddy flow. The app sends data to Mixpanel’s EU endpoint.
Analytics events may include:
- a randomly generated app identifier;
- app version and build, iOS version, broad acquisition source, install/update cohort, and whether the build is an internal test build;
- pseudonymous alarm and occurrence identifiers;
- alarm configuration such as hour, minute, selected weekdays, enabled state, and first-action category;
- AlarmKit authorization, scheduling, mutation, and reconciliation results;
- whether Stop or Start with Biscuit was observed, and whether the Biscuit flow was opened, started, skipped, completed, or abandoned;
- optional morning-pattern and follow-up answers;
- technical status, error text, counts, timing, and duplicate-detection information used to diagnose reliability and routing.
The analytics identifier is not deliberately linked to your name, email address, advertising identifier, or custom action text. Alarm Buddy does not enable Mixpanel’s automatic event tracking.
4. Support and interview emails
When your iPhone can send email, choosing Report an alarm problem presents Apple’s in-app email composer with a draft addressed to hello.alarm.buddy@gmail.com. The draft may include your expected alarm time and days, app version and build, iOS version, and the alarm state reported by the app. You can review, edit, send, or cancel it. If a send-ready email is unavailable, Alarm Buddy stays open and offers Copy email and Copy message so you can use another email app or device.
The interview contact path uses the same composer or copy fallback with a separate prepared message. We receive your email address and anything you include only if you send the email. Beginning the composer or choosing a copy action is recorded as a product-analytics event; whether you send or cancel and the contents of the email are not reported to Mixpanel by the app.
Support and interview messages are handled separately from analytics identity. Because the support inbox is hosted by Gmail, Google processes those emails under its own terms and privacy policy.
5. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- schedule, display, update, and reconcile the alarm you ask the app to manage;
- provide the optional Biscuit flow and remember your choices;
- find setup, alarm-state, routing, and usability problems;
- measure whether people voluntarily return to Start with Biscuit;
- reply to support requests and arrange interviews you volunteer for;
- protect the app, investigate misuse, and meet legal obligations.
Analytics can show that an expected alarm opportunity existed or that an app action occurred. It cannot prove the exact moment an alarm sounded on your device.
7. Retention, deletion, and your choices
- On-device data: remains until you change or delete it, reset relevant app state, or uninstall the app.
- Analytics: is kept for up to 12 months so we can understand product use, diagnose problems, and compare release cohorts.
- Emails: are kept for up to 24 months after our last correspondence so we can answer the request, conduct a volunteered interview, and maintain useful support history.
We may retain particular records for longer when reasonably necessary to investigate an active issue, protect users or the service, resolve a dispute, or comply with a legal obligation. When identifiable information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it where reasonably possible.
You can decline optional questions, skip movement, stop an email before sending, turn off or delete your alarm, change Alarm permission in iOS Settings, or uninstall the app. To ask about access, correction, or deletion of information we can identify, email hello.alarm.buddy@gmail.com. We may need enough information to verify and locate the request. Analytics records that cannot reasonably be linked back to you may not be individually retrievable.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights. We will respond to valid requests as required by applicable law.
8. Children
Alarm Buddy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
9. Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their safeguards and applicable law.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app, service providers, or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated where reasonably appropriate.
